The Holidays Are Upon Us!

Hi Everyone-  We officially have 4 more wake-ups until vacation!  We can do it!  Here are your updates for the week.

C-  Tomorrow you will be in the classroom and we will start our unit on Exploration.  You will be doing a map activity which should take you to the end of the week.  Your 16th Century Social Media projects are due on Wednesday.  Remember you are required to present.  Finally, we decided to have a holiday party with senior mentors.  Remember to bring a treat for that! 

E and F-  Today we will start our unit on Exploration.  You will be doing a map activity today which will be due at the end of class on Tuesday.  Your 16th Century Social Media projects are due on Wednesday.  Remember you are required to present. 

G-  This week we will cover the Scientific Revolution and the Protestant Reformation.  Wednesday you have Ch. 13 Sec. 5 HW due and then Friday you have Ch. 13 Sec. 3 and 4 due.

Protestant Reformation

Hi Everyone-  I hope you all had a nice weekend.  Those of you who went to the game, I hope you you had fun!  Please remember that Progress Reports go home on Friday, 12/13.  Here are your updates for the week.

C Period-  Today we will be looking at primary sources from Galileo's trial.  Tomorrow and Wednesday we will discuss the Protestant Reformation and how it spread throughout Europe.  Thursday and Friday we will be in the Computer Lab/Library to work on a project.  More details on that to come.

Scientific Revolution

Hi Everyone!  I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving break!  I can't believe we are three weeks away from Winter Break! I have a few announcments before your updates for the week.

1. Mid-term is Friday.  That means that Progress Reports for Term 2 will go home on Friday, 12/13.

2. C, E, and F Period-  You have all received your graded DBQ essays.  Remember, if you earned a 70% or below you can stay after to conference with me and then re-do your essays.  I will not take any re-done essays after this Friday, 12/6. I am after school Tuesday, Wednesday (after 3:15), and Thursday.

C Period-  Tomorrow we will review the Northern Renaissance.  Wednesday and Thursday we will discuss the Scientific Revolution.  Friday you will be quizzed on both the Northern Renaissance and the Scientific Revolution.

E and F Period-  Tomorrow we will review the Northern Renaissance. Wednesday you will be quizzed on the Italian Renaissance and the Northern Renaissance.  You also have homework on the Northern Renaissance due on Wednesday.  Thursday and Friday we will spend some time discussing the Scientific Revolution.

G Period-  Tomorrow is the last day you will have in class to work on your Middle Ages essays.  The final, typed draft will be due on Friday, 12/6.  We will be moving onto the Renaissance on Wednesday.

Northern Renaissance

Hi Everyone-  I hope you had a great weekend!  Here are your updates for the week.

C Period-  Today you watched Decoded: Leonardo da Vinci.  We will finish the video tomorrow and then we will discuss Michelangelo and Raphael.  Wednesday you will complete an activity on Macchiavelli's The Prince.  Thursday and Friday you will complete a group activity on the Northern Renaissance.  Please remember you have a reading quiz on Ch. 13 Sec. 1 tomorrow.

Beginning of the Renaissance

Hi Everyone-  I hope you all had a great long weekend and found some time to relax.  We are ending the Middle Ages this week and moving onto the Renaissance.  Here are your updates for the week.

C, E, and F-  Your DBQ Essays were due on Friday, 11/8.  I will still take late essays up until Friday, 11/15.  I will deduct 10% for every day that it is late. 

C Period-  Today you worked on your Crusades Ads.  These will be due at the beginning of class tomorrow.  Tomorrow, Wednesday, we will discuss the Black Death and move onto the Renaissance.  Thursday and Friday we will spend time focusing on where, when, and why the Renaissance started and who some of the famous Renaissance men are. 

E and F Period-  Your Crusades Ads. are due today.  We will be discussing the Black Death and then moving onto the Renaissance.  Tomorrow and Thursday we will be focusing on where, when, and why the Renaissance started and who some of the famous Renaissance men are.  Friday we will be watching a video on Leonardo DaVinci.

G Period-  Today and tomorrow you will be working on Crusades Ads. Your Crusades Ads will be due at the beginning of class on Thursday.  Thursday we will be discussing the Black Death.

Late Middle Ages

Hi Everyone-  I hope you all had a great weekend.  I have a few announcments before we your updates in each class. 

1. Report Cards will be given to students to take home on Friday, 11/8.
2. C, E, and F-  Your DBQs are due on Friday, 11/8.

C Period-  Today we continued to discuss the economic changes of the Middle Ages.  Tomorrow we will finish and you will start learning about the growth of royal powers in the Middle Ages.  Finally, we will end the week with a project on the Crusades.  This will be an in class assignment.  Please remember you DBQs are due Friday, 11/8.

Moving Forward with the Middle Ages

Hi Everyone-  I hope you had a nice weekend.  Here are your updates for the week.

Announcements:
1. On Wednesday, 10/30, you will all be participating in a college readiness test called, ReadiStep.  This test will be administered during C and D periods, which will be extended.  You will be taking your test with your C period class.  See your teachers with questions.

2.  Grades close Friday.  Please be sure to check Aspen and check in with your teacher if you have any questions.

C period-  We are moving forward with the Middle Ages.  Today, we will go over the documents you were to analyze over the weekend and we will be discussing economic changes that occured during the Middle Ages.  Later this week we will be discussing the growth of royal powers. You will have a reading quiz this week. Stay tuned for updates on that. 

E and F Period-  We are also moving forward with the Middle Ages.  Today, we will go over the documents you were to analyze over the weekend and we will be dicussing economic changes that occured during the Middle Ages.  Later this week we will be looking at how royal powers began to grow throughout Europe.  You will have homework this week.  Stay tuned for updates on that.

Middle Ages Madness

Hi Everyone-  I hope you are having a good week so far.  Here are your updates:

C Period-  Today your kingdoms are due.  We will also spend some time analyzing primary sources from the Middle Ages.  Tonight for homework, you will need to read over the 10 Commandments of Good Historical Writing and put each one into your own words.  Tomorrow we will be discussing Document Based Questions (DBQs).  Thursday and Friday we will spend some time discussing the economic changes of the Middle Ages.

E and F Period-  We ended Feudalism yesterday.  Today you will be spending some time analyzing primary sources from the Middle Ages.  Tomorrow we will discuss Document Based Questions (DBQs).  Thursday and Friday we will spend some time discussing the economic changes of the Middle Ages.  Don't forget your kingdoms are due on Wednesday.

G Period-  You will spend some time in class today finishing your Middle Ages maps.  We will be discussing feudalism the rest of the week.  By Friday we will be analyzing primary sources. 

Don't forget the Freshman Cookout is this Thursday, 10/24.  Grilling will start on the upper fields at 3:30.

Early Middle Ages

Hi Everyone-  I hope that you all found some time to enjoy the long weekend!  I can't believe we are already a halfway done with October.  We have a lot of fun stuff going on tomorrow so here are your updates for the week.

C Period-
Your WR tests are graded and in Aspen.  Check them out.  I'm pretty impressed!  We will be starting the Middle Ages tomorrow with some map work.  Thursday and Friday we will be discussing Feudalism.  Remember your T-shirt Projects are due  tomorrow, 10/15 and your MA Graphic Tour is due on Thursday, 10/17.

E and F Period-

World Religion Flashcards

World Religions (Still!)

Hi Everyone-  I hope you all had a nice, relaxing weekend.  This week we are wrapping up our unit on World Religions.  Here are the updates for each class.

C Period-
Your reactions on Inside Mecca are due today, Monday, 10/7.  We will finish Christianity and Judaism today in class.  Tuesday and Wednesday we will be in the Library and you will be working on your T-Shirt Projects.  Thursday we will review for your World Religion test and Friday you will be tested on World Religions.  You all received a study guide today.  You should be using that to help you review and prepare for your test. 

E and F Period- 
We will finish Christianity and Judaism today in class.  Tuesday and Wednesday we will be in the Library and you will be working on your T-Shirt Projects.  Thursday we will review for your World Religion Test and Friday you will be tested on World Relgions.  You all received a study guide on Friday.  You should be using that to help you review and prepare for your test.

End of World Religions

Hi Everyone-  I hope that you all had a great weekend.  I am so excited it is finally October!  I felt like September lasted forever.  In the posts below you can find the syllabi you recieved today that will finish up our unit on World Religions.  Please make sure you are paying attention to the due dates.

- There is a student council meeting at 2:10 in Rm. 74 on Tuesday, 10/1.  All are welcome.

World Religions 9/23-9/27

Hi Everyone-  I hope you all had a nice weekend and the week is going well for you so far.  Please remember that your permission slips and $17 for the Aquarium are due no later than 10/11.  Also, Homework Club has started up again.  It will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays this year in Rm. 219.  Here are your updates for the week.  

C Period-  We started working on a Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism quote activity today.  You will finish this tomorrow.  This is a good review for your quiz.  Also, your homework is due tomorrow, 9/24.  Finally, you will be quizzed on Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism on Wednesday, 9/25.  After that we will be moving on to Hinduism and then we will finish up the week discussing Islam.

E Period-  Tomorrow you will work on a readings for Buddhism and Daoism.  Please remember that your quiz on Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism is on Wednesday, 9/25.  You should be looking at your notes and the quote activity we worked on today to help you study.  After that we will be moving onto Hinduism and we will finish up the week discussing Islam.

End of Week Update

Hi Everyone-  I wanted to send an end of week update because a lot of things have been changed this week.  Hopefully this clears up an confusion. 

C Period-  We will finish discussing Buddhism tomorrow.  You all did a great job with that activity!  Tomorrow we will go back to Confucianism and Daoism.  Next week you will be quizzed on Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism.  I will explain more early on next week.  There still is no homework but this is going to change very quickly ;)

E Period-  Tomorrow you will continue working on the Buddhism Activity.  There is no homework tonight and there will be no homework over the weekend.  You will be quizzed on Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism next week.  I will explain more early on next week. 

F Period-  Today you started working on the Buddhism Activity.  We will continue working on this tomorrow and Monday.  You will be quizzed on Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism next week.  I will explain more early on next week. Please note that your paragraphs on Confucianism and Daoism are due tomorrow, 9/20.

G Period-  Today we discussed Daoism and started working on Buddhism.  We will continue working on this tomorrow and Monday.  Your homework over the next couple nights is to write three paragraphs comparing and contrasting Confucianism and Daoism.  You should have one paragraph on Confucianism and one on Daoism.  Your third paragraph should explain how they are the same.  This assignment will be due on Tuesday, 9/24. 

Another reminder to get your permission slips and $17 in for the field trip to the aquarium.  See me with questions.

Starting World Religions

Hi Everyone- I hope that you are having a great week so far!  Here are some updates for each class on what to expect for the rest of the week.

C Period-  You have been working on an inclass activity about Buddhism.  We are going to continue this tomorrow and hopefully wrap up by the end of the week.  After we discuss Buddhism we will be spending some time on Hinduism.  Please know that we had to go out of order from the original syllabus that I gave you.  A homework assignment has NOT been given yet this week.  However, please make sure you are paying attention to when things are assigned.  I will make this very clear in class.

E Period- We finished our discussion on Confucianism and Daoism.  You have spent the last two days working on an inclass activity about Buddhism.  Once we finish that we will start learning about Hinduism.  You had a homework assignment due in class today, Wednesday.  If you have not gotten that in please do so ASAP.

F Period-  We finished discussing Confucianism and Daoism today.  For homework you need to write three paragraphs comparing and contrasting Confucianism and Daoism.  This will be due on Friday, 9/20. 

G Period-  You spent the last couple of days working on your World Religion Map.  Please make sure this is complete for your notebook checks.  Today we started Confucianism.  Tomorrow we will spend some time discussing Daoism.  You will need to write three paragraphs comparing and contrasting the Confucianism and Daoism.  This will be due next Tuesday, 10/1.  I will explain this more in class tomorrow. 

Other:
- You were all given a permission slip for our field trip to the Aquarium on 10/16.  The cost of the trip is $17.  Cash or check is accepted and checks should be made out to PSHS.  Permission slips and money are due to me no later that 10/11.  See me or Mr. Loranger with questions.

- Homecoming is Saturday, 9/21.  Tickets are $10 and can be bought at lunch.

C Period-  We will continue our mini-unit on primary and secondary sources.  Please note that your homework will be due on Tuesday, 9/10.  Wednesday we will spend some time discussing 9/11.  Thursday you will start presenting your school-wide summer reading and your honors history summer reading will be due the same day.  Please see me with questions.

Welcome!

Hi Everyone-  I can't believe we are starting a new school year.  I am very excited to get to know all of you and I look forward to a wonderful year.  Please never hesitate to ask me any questions.  I am here to help. 

All World Classes-  Your first homework assignment will be due on Friday, 9/6.  You will need the signature sheet for the class expectations signed and returned to me.  You will also need your completed student survey.
